ABOUT CREATIVE CAMERA CLUB
The Creative Camera Club has been a part of Lexington for literally decades. The club currently has about 150 members, ranging from very new beginners to photography professionals. The shooting subject matter preferences of our members vary from street photography to nature to nostalgia.
Club members meet twice a month on the First and Third Thursdays at Crestwood Christian Church at 7:00 unless otherwise published in the Club calendar. First Thursday, as the first monthly meeting is called, is an informal gathering designed to give members “hands-on” opportunities to work with one another to learn how to use equipment or new technology / software; to provide mentors and mentoring opportunities for new photographers; and provide workshops, field trips, and the display and critique of images created by members.
OUR LATEST COMPETITION WINNERS
The club meeting held on the third Thursday of each month offers member competition (digital images) on alternating months, and programs / presentations delivered by guest speakers. The Board of Directors selects program topics with broad appeal and publishes them in January’s Newsletter. Competition topics are selected by the membership and published in August.
Every year the Club has its annual print show usually held late in the year. Each member selects four of their best images then prints and frames them for the exhibit. Last year the print show had over 160 entries. The entries are judged by three experts in photography and by the club membership. The exhibit usually stays up for a month for the general public to enjoy.
We welcome anyone interested in photography to come by a meeting, introduce yourself, and join in the photography fun.
